Zamba on the iPhoneThe traditional dice game of Zamba is now available as an iPhone app. Like many iPhone apps, this game is easy to play on the hand held iPhone. It is not a graphics based game so you don't have to worry about playing it in direct sunlight. All you need to be able to see is the umbers in the chart. You can play as four separate players or let your iPhone play one, two, or three players while you play the fourth slot. The key is to know when to take a chance. Sometimes risk taking is rewarded, other times you lose for going for a long shot.How to Play Zamba on the iPhoneThere are typically eight rounds in a game of Zamba, even the iPhone game. The goal of each round is to mark down the highest possible three digit number based on the rolling of a single die three times. So the best number would be 666 and the lowest would be 111. Each round, you start of with a blank slate and the die showing a number one through six. You decide where you want to use that digit. It could be in the hundreds column, the tens column, or the ones column.iPhone Zamba StrategyFor example, let's say you are playing the iPhone game and you start with a six. Well, that's easy. Just click on the hundreds column and for that round, the worst you could get is a 611 (if the next two rolls are ones.) Or let's say your first number is a one. Again, you know that since it is the lowest number, you should put it in the one's column so that you could still get a 661 if the next two rolls are sixes. In the same way, it is common sense when playing this iPhone app to put initial fives in the hundreds columns and twos in the ones column. Chances are that your next roll will be higher. Where strategy comes in is when you start with a three or four.Conservative iPhone App Zamba RulesIf you like to play conservative, then always assume that you next roll will be worse than what you have. So put threes and fours in the hundreds column. A risk taker would gamble that the next roll will be higher and not want to use up the hundreds slots since a five or a six may be next. What makes the game really interesting is that each three digit number from the eight rounds is added up. The winner is the highest total column. So sometimes you can play conservative AND take chances on different rounds in the same game. That's what makes Zamba such an interesting iPhone app. |
